People involved in stokvel or investment groups must ensure their money is transferred into their bank accounts, as it is much safer than receiving cash. “Never deposit money into someone’s bank account when buying something such as a vehicle or any property before you see it, are satisfied and take ownership,” he added.
Senior citizens must be be accompanied by trustworthy family members to the bank, to prevent them from being conned or robbed. “The purpose of this warning is to educate the community to safeguard their hard earned cash and not to fall victims to theft, robbery or fraud.”
