School’s soccer stars make U13 South Durban squad

Owethu Mkhize, Akhona Khumalo, Thabiso Wanda and Masiteng Ndlovu can't wait to make their school proud.

FOUR Yellowwood Park Primary pupils have been selected to join the U13 South Durban soccer team.

Owethu Mkhize, Akhona Khumalo, Thabiso Wanda and Masiteng Ndlovu have shown great talent and skill when playing as part of their school soccer team.

Aged between 12 and 13-years-old, the boys have been playing soccer their whole life. “I enjoy playing the sport. I like the fitness part of it and having fun with my friends,” said Masiteng Ndlovu.

Unsurprised that they had made the team, the young soccer stars showed great confidence in themselves and their talent. “We knew we would make it. We play our positions well and we are technically sound,” said head prefect and defender, Owethu Mkhize.
They always encourage each other to stay motivated and grounded. “We never let the pressure get to us because we help each other – we are a team after all,” said Mkhize.
