Take a hike in the Crowned Eagle Conservancy this weekend

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club visits the Crowned Eagle Conservancy in Gillitts on Saturday, 13 May.

This hike offers something different in a guided walk through the privately owned Crowned Eagle Conservancy, taking in the indigenous flora and fauna, some of which is endangered, and includes areas of historical interest.

This is a great hike for beginners, and photographers and birdwatchers could also enjoy the outing. Meet and park at 1.45pm at the Gillitts Post Office (on the corner of 15 Old Main and Clifton roads). A R20 donation goes towards the upkeep of the conservancy. This hike is graded one, easy.

On Sunday, 14 May take a hike to Mitchell Park to Point. Call hike leader Jenny Rooks on 084-952-0622. This walk from Mitchell Park to the Point and back, will see walkers stop for coffee and snacks along the way. Meet at 7.30am at Mitchell Park’s Nimmo Road parking area. Covering about 22km, this hike is graded three.

Call hike leader Philip on 082-417-0204.
